La Perouse Adventure

Recently I was invited by friends to spend the day in La Perouse. It was a beautiful beach, one of many that Sydney has to offer, but this one was a bit farther off the beaten path than tourists tend to venture. There were fewer people than at other beaches I've visited and since it was a bit away from the city it seemed more natural than most and was somewhat of a national park. It reminded me a lot of places I've visited on camping trips as a child in Florida. There was a small island close by that could be reached by way of a walking bridge and although most of it was fenced off for special tours, it still looked nice in the distance.
There was also a scenic trail and after a bit of time lounging at the beach, my friend Anri and I decided to walk it. We didn't know how long the trail was and so we didn't bring our shoes with us, a decision that turned out to be a bit short-sighted. Much of the trail was laid with sand and the hot sun made it pretty rough on our feet. We were hoping to find a cliff diving rock, but when we reached the ocean we only found shallow water and low rocks filled with fishermen. The end of the trail was downhill and offered no shade and our feet couldn't handle to prospect of going back the way we came so we took another "trail" that lead along the coast.
We asked the advice of a local fisherman and he assured us that the path would take us all the way back to where we started without a problem. This is where our adventures really began because a third of the path was almost completely overgrown with plants, a third was made up of rocks and when there were gaps in them we were left to walk in the water, and finally our favorite part (haha) was a nude beach (even though it wasn't meant to be) that we had to walk across to get back to the beach we started at. It was all pretty hilarious really and we had fun with it, even if we had to look at the ground to get through a good portion of the walk without inflicting any deep emotional scars. :-P
